How things got rolling…
The great thing about Gnomedex is that everyone there, aside from yours truly, is famous. Maybe famous in a moderate, local-boy-done-good kind-of way, but famous nonetheless. Take, for example, the man seated at my right - Andrew McCaskey, the editor of SlashdotReview. Not only is his daily podcast heard by thousands, but he was the first man from the conference to really grab ahold of the concept of BountyUp, and do something cool with it.
In this case, the coolness is the Watercone - a simple solar still intended for the developing world. (I found out over the course of the weekend that Andrew is active with the Rotary Club, and has a passion for international social causes, particularly in health.) Check out the bounty that he opened up.
The idea of this solar powered water cone is intriguing given the state of water needs.
Your blog is of real interest and I arrived here via a link at “Time Goes By.” I watched the streaming video of Ronni Bennett’s presentation at Gnomedex, heard interest expressed in her ideas which I’ve supported for some time. I wrote a well-received recap at my blog, including a hope that she would receive follow-up from technical people on some of the ideas. I want to thank you for doing just that with the Elderbrowser idea. I’ll look forward to contributing, supporting this project as best I am able, including trying to get some publicity for it in my community.
Thanks for the reminder of this desert survival tip.
